2011 Summer Road Trip - Day 28

Wednesday, June 22, 2011
We didn't make it out of Uncle Mike's house very early, and ended up having to go back because I forgot to take my Coke out of the freezer before we left.  FINALLY around 1pm we were on the road.  We swung through McDonald's for lunch then headed to Dandridge, Tennessee to meet up with my godsister, Amanda.

We passed through a little corner of Georgia on our way to Dandridge, but didn't stay there very long!  I was surprised by how small the state sign was on this part of the interstate!

We hit Tennessee at Chattanooga, and wanted to go see Stone Mountain, but there was a thunderstorm in the area.  I was afraid of getting struck by lightning, so we just decided to stay off the mountains.

We did stop at the visitor's center/rest stop just across the Tennessee state line.  There was a little play area there with the cutest little mosaic type fish!  The kids took a car break to play there and post for pictures.

It seemed to take a long time, but we finally made it to Dandridge around 6pm.  Right after we got checked into our room a torrential downpour started!  It was amazing!  Amanda showed up shortly after us and we all settled in for a night of swimming, sandwiches and visiting.
