Albany, NY & Manchester, VT
The Rundown: We had a fabulous day today! We ALL (even DAVID) slept in until after 10:30am, and when we got up we figured out that our hotel offers breakfast until 1pm!!! That is unheard of in the hotel world, so we were really pleased to get the free, cooked to order grub!
After brunch we headed out to visit David's boss, Jim, and his family in Manchester, Vermont. It was our first trip to Vermont, so we were excited! I was surprised by how much the scenery changed between New York and Vermont. New York was so much more crowded and seemed to be just "junkier" than Vermont. It was obvious as soon as you crossed the state line!
We went to the Orvis store to feed the fish, then we met up with Jim and his family to go swimming at the Dorset Quarry. Here is a more in depth blog about the quarry. Even though the water was freezing my girls were all for jumping right in! It was amazing! Jim brought several boys who were around Katie's age with them. His son, Jay, is also Katie's age. She fit right in, jumping off some of the cliffs even before the boys worked up the nerve to do it! Reese was a little more cautious, but once Jim got in the water she was his best friend! The water was probably 80 feet deep, and there was no beach, just sheer rock faces. Katie swam like a pro, and I've never been more happy that Reese was wearing a life jacket the whole time...
After swimming for a while we headed over to Jim's house for dinner. It was so nice to just have a laid back cookout. The girls were happy to play with the other kids, and we were happy for the adult conversation. It was a great day!
High Point of the Day: Swimming at the quarry and meeting some new friends. Katie really liked Jay, he was such a good little host!
Low Point of the Day: Katie: Having to drive an hour and a half to get to Manchester!

These are the everyday doings of the Cooan family. Ours is a story about an average, American family. We love, we laugh, we travel and we blog!
