We went out to Nana and Papaw's house after we left the hospital. I caught a picture of all the guys snoozing! How typical is that?!?

We celebrated a fabulous Christmas with Nana and Papaw on Christmas Eve. Jason, Allison, Caleb and Nathan were there to join us, too. The kids had such a gerat time, even though Nana and I ended up buying them the same thing! That was too funny! The good thing was that the kids then had enough Battle Strikers for everyone to play. I think that gift was the hit of the party!
Nathan gave Reese some great instructions on how to play. It's so sweet how patient both boys are with her!
As you can tell from the following video, Katie fixed (or should I say, didn't fix) her own hair for Christmas at Nana's. The kids all have their bare white legs showing because they managed to get in the pond and get all wet. All Nana had for them to wear was shorts and old clothes, so they looked like little orphans!
We had an incredible dinner and a whole day to just hang out and be a family. I love times like these!

Tuesday finally came, and at the end of the day we had to take the Smith family back to Savannah so that they could catch their plane early the next morning. After dinner we dropped Angela and Grant off at the hotel in Savannah, but managed to talk Raleigh Jo into staying with us the rest of the week and riding home with the kids and me. I was so excited! I knew she'd be a lot of help with the kids, and let me tell you, that girl is crazy! I had so much fun with her! She cracks me up!
We were beach bums the rest of the week, then on Friday, July 3rd, David's brother, Michael, came up to see us and stay the weekend. We had dinner at the hotel and waited for him to get there, then pretty much crashed for the night soon after he arrived. All was well until David and Michael fell asleep. Then the snoring symphony began! I tossed and turned until about 6am, then I picked up my pillow, grabbed some cushions off of one of the chairs and went to sleep on the balcony! I got a couple of pictures of the sunrise, but that was the highlight of my two hour nap. We were up and at 'em early that day!
We celebrated Independence Day after another day basking on the beach. We couldn't decided where to go for fireworks, so we decided we would walk down the beach to a show that turned out to be a lot further away than we expected. We walked a LONG way down the beach, but never made it to the show. Katie was SO mad! At first she was hurrying us along thinking we could make it if we rushed. We managed to lose Michael, David and Reese in our rush. They told us they would just catch up. That never happened because Reese, who was riding on David's shoulders, promptly fell asleep on top of his head and was too heavy to carry. Raleigh Jo, Katie and I took off at a very fast pace trying to make it to the end of the beach where the fireworks were being shot off. Needless to say, we didn't make it before the show, and Katie was whining and crying before we got halfway there. We decided to just stop and watch from afar, and Katie was mad about that, too. She didn't want to walk, she didn't want to sit, and even breathing was a reason to complain by then. Raleigh Jo and I started singing show tunes just to drown out the complaining, and that really ticked her off! All in all, Independence Day was a loser for Katie, but I got some cool pictures of the family and the moon beams on the ocean!
We eventually made it back to the hotel, and since the snoring symphony was sure to start as soon as the lights went out, Raleigh Jo and I decided to pull our mattress out on the balcony and spend our last night on the beach out there. It was wonderful! We could hear the waves, and the breeze was cool. There were a few kids still popping firecrackers at 2am, but overall it was great! The sun woke us up the next morning, but we needed to get moving anyway, so we could start the long journey home.

Our Christmas started on the Friday before the 25th. We hosted our annual Stocking Stuffer Party with several of our friends. We had about 25 people here, and we all pigged out on cookies and pie. Our stocking stuffer party is unique as far as I know. Every year my mom and I head out the week after Christmas and snatch up all of the stocking stuffers we can find for under $1 or $2. We usually have five boys, five girls, eleven women and ten men. We look for stuff for everyone. This year we had gag gifts and all kinds of other goodies. Most of the guests bring stocking stuffers, too, so our big camoflage (yes, we're rednecks!) stockings are filled to the top.
On Saturday we had our Christmas at Nana and Papaw Gary's house. The food was great, the kids got too many presents and we all went home happy! What could be better?
On Sunday we went to my Uncle Bob's house to celebrate with him and his family. We ate chili dogs and talked and talked and talked. We hardly ever get together with them and I just hate that... They live in Sherwood, which is only about 45 minutes from here, but somehow we never meet up...
Monday we didn't do too much. It was Christmas Eve, but it was a perfect day to relax. We had to get ready for Santa!!!
Santa came to our house sometime Monday night. We all slept in, but once the kids were up it was all fun! Katie got a "Streak -n- Style" so that her hair can be all different colors, a set of hot rollers, a cutting tool for her artistic endeavors, and some clothes. Reese got a couple of toys and some great clothes. Her favorite gift from Santa was a 'Fridge DJ' radio made by Leap Frog. She hasn't put it down since she got it! The girls both got a computer to share. Santa took my mom's old computer, painted it pink and set it up with all their games. They loved it. My mom and daddy came up for breakfast, and we spent the rest of the day just hanging out.

Well, for the second time in a row we have hosted our HUGE family Thanksgiving dinner. I just love it! Finally a party I can call my own and plan MY way! We usually have almost all of the family here. How many of us? Let's count:

So it looks like we had about 22 people there. Just the right amount for a good party!
The morning started early for me. I got up and put the turkey in the oven around 5am, then went back to bed for a while. I didn't get to sleep long, though, there was too much to do! I made baked sweet potatoes with pecans, green beans, mashed potatoes, pecan pie, rolls, turkey, ham and a couple of pies. My mom made the dressing and Allison brought a broccoli casserole. It all turned out great and I think everyone had a good time. We all ate til we were stuffed, then we played Battle of the Sexes and Trivial Pursuit. I LOVE the holidays! We never seem to play board games except at Thanksgiving and Christmas. I love board games, too! Maybe one of my resolutions for the new year is to get my family to PLAY more...
Everyone headed home at about dark. I think we were all just worn out. I felt so good about the whole day. There's nothing better than being together with the family, and it's even better when we can be with both families (David's and mine) at one time. I am so grateful for all that I have. I have a great family, on both sides, I have a husband who provides for us so that I can stay home and raise our kids, I have two wild and crazy kids that I love more than anything. I couldn't ask for much more. Life is good.
I only got a couple of pictures that day. I was too busy to stop and take pics!
